The leadership way

Make the call

Being scared doesn't make you a bad leader. It makes you human. I've been there - big decisions looming, team waiting, no clear answers. It's uncomfortable as hell. But waiting for fear to vanish is pointless. It won't.

So you act anyway. Make the call. Share your thoughts, even if your voice shakes. Your team doesn't need a fearless hero. They need a leader who shows up, takes risks, and owns mistakes. Every good leader I know still feels fear. They've just learned to work through it.

You can too. It's not about feeling brave. It's about doing what needs to be done, scared or not. That's real leadership in the trenches. It's messy and often feels like stumbling in the dark. But you keep moving. You lean on your team, gather info, and make decisions knowing some will be wrong. When that happens, you own it, learn, and keep going.

Remember: your fear isn't a sign to back down. It's a sign you're growing. Use it as fuel. That's how you become the leader your team needs - not by being fearless, but by acting despite fear.
